About Hitchcock - and The Three Investigators

Now, I’d try to focus on a specific subject here – still regarding movie director. And perhaps I will try to just refer to one or two sources. Well, maybe more… (I can’t really promise).

And so, this is the name to be mentioned here: Alfred Hitchcock. Well, actually his picture is already there on my previous post, on the book cover.

This name is well-known as a writer and movie director specialised in the genre of suspense, mystery, detective’s case, or whatever they name it. While for me, the first encounter with the name happened years ago, at my early teen-age, and it was through something that’s actually not really related to Hitchcock.

It’s the series of fiction book/novel called “The Three Investigators” – or previously labelled “Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators”. And this memory brought me to search again on the series (called the “Trio Detektif” in Indonesia), checking out sites such us T3I Readers or The Three Investigators US, before actually write this post.

The late movie director actually never wrote them, though his silhouette is once used on every cover for the previous edition of the books. He involves in several of the stories, even “writes” introductions to the cases, but of course it’s just the real authors’ creation.

Recalling my passion on this particular book series, I still remember how I loved the way these teen investigators (Jupe, Pete and Bob) solve their cases, including how they have this interesting headquarter on the junk-yard owned by Jupe’s uncle. I also liked a lot of quotes and some wide literary knowledge in the books.

Oh, now I begin to think about my small collection of these books. Are they still at Dad’s place? Gotta think of doing something about it soon … Hmm.

Anyway, back to Hitchcock, here’s another interesting source about him called Hitchcock Online. While on this Euro Screen Writers site, there’s a good and very old interview transcript with him conducted by Peter Bogdanovich. Oh, and back to Wikipedia, do you know that Hitchcock still have several un-produced projects? Any interesting “ideas” for them perhaps?

Previous edition of the T3I books have Hitchcock’s silhouette on the cover’s corner. Image originally copied from Nancy Drew’s catalog.
